UK Property Awards 2011

New Arts & Crafts house at Avenel, Kilmacolm, Scotland awarded Highly Commended in the category of Best Architecture (single unit)

Plot 3 at Avenel in Kilmacolm Scotland designed by Hugh Petter has been awarded Highly Commended at the UK Property Awards in the category of Best Architecture (single unit).

UK Property Awards are in association with Bloomberg Television and Google. These awards, combined with the other regional awards' programmes for Arabia, Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia Pacific, form the global International Property Awards. Established 17 years ago, they are considered the world's most prestigious property competition and cover residential as well as commercial categories.

The house is one of six new homes within the gardens of the original home of Wallace Forrester. When he died in 2001 his family were determined to preserve his legacy. Each of the six new homes has a unique character and is traditionally inspired reflecting the established local architecture. The houses disturb as little of the landscape as possible, preserving the unique qualities of this mature landscape setting.
