Congress for the New Urbanism (CNU) Charter Awards 2015 for 2 projects

Awards have been given to the Aldershot town extension and the new Pavilion portico at The Oval

We are very pleased to announce that at the CNU (Congress for the New Urbanism) Charter Award ceremony in Dallas Texas, USA, we were awarded 2 Awards.

The CNU Charter Awards recognizes exemplary work in architectural, landscape, urban, and regional design, as defined by the Charter of the New Urbanism. The Charter defines the essential qualities of walkable, sustainable places from the scale of the region down to the block and building.

The Aldershot town extension, known as Wellesley, (pictured left top) was announced as a winner at the Congress. Charter awards jury member Hank Dittmar commented on the Aldershot development, “So many former military facilities are simply scraped clean, but the designers have been careful to keep not only the best buildings, but also the best spaces and the core network—ensuring that the past informs the future community of Aldershot.”

The new Pavilion portico at The Oval (pictured left bottom) received a Merit award.

Director Robert Adam attended the ceremony in Dallas Texas to collect the awards. The 2015 Charter Award winners were unveiled as part of CNU’s 23rd annual Congress, a four-day international conference exploring walkable neighbourhood development and sustainable cities. Among the eleven winners and ten runners-up only two UK projects were recognised.
