New farmhouse, Wiltshire
A new farmhouse replaced a large group of utilitarian farm buildings within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The new house is a restrained classical design sited on the southern edge of the farmyard, overlooking a new courtyard garden. Its design draws inspiration from Greek architecture and is defined by a central pedimented bay and porticoed entrance. The palate of materials has been carefully selected to match that of the local area and the existing courtyard buildings, allowing the property to blend with its surroundings. The design develops and upgrades the site to form a more attractive and manageable farmstead that reflects the architecture of the region and enhances the sensitive landscape setting.
