Masterplan for St Andrew's hospital in Northamton

St Andrew's Hospital was founded in 1838 and has grown to become one of England's major mental health institutions. ADAM Architecture was asked to undertake a re-assessment of the design for a new adolescent care unit. This large new complex included several related but individually secure buildings for different levels of juvenile care. These were gathered together to create a village atmosphere around a series of internal courtyards and streets. ADAM Architecture developed the design to ensure that it related positively to the original high quality buildings of the hospital, whilst maintaining an individual identity and informal character.
