At the Master Builder Awards ceremony in London last night, hosted by the Federation of Master Builders, Alan Stanley Building Contractor Ltd were presented with two awards for the renovation and extension to a house in Derbyshire, designed by ADAM Architecture's Robbie Kerr.
The awards, the national Large Renovation Project and best Heritage Project, were presented to the team for the significant restoration of The Dower House overlooking Melbourne Pool in Derbyshire. The project involved the demolition of a 1960s wing and construction of several large extensions and extensive landscaping. Working closely with ADAM Architecture, Alan Staley constructed bespoke stone carving details for the external elevations and installed a nautical-themed parquet floor design, featuring a circular compass consisting of eight different timbers.
Alan explains further: “Working with a listed building requires a careful and sensitive approach to adapt the historic fabric and improve the environmental performance. Every aspect of this project required all works to be executed with precision.”
