Planning permission granted for a new country house in Hampshire

May 24, 2023

A design for a new country house in Hampshire has been granted planning permission by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. ADAM director Darren Price designed the new house in a characteristically restrained manner, drawing upon the tradition of the English villa, with simple detailing and proportions that evoke country houses of the 18th and early 19th Century.

The house has been positioned on the ridge of an exposed site to take advantage of magnificent views across the Test Valley, with principle north and south elevations designed with equal prominence, specifically crafted for the area. The use of high quality, natural materials and the employment of simple elegant proportions results in a timeless appearance, well rooted to the surrounding Hampshire landscape.

The clients’ request was to deliver an award-winning home, which combines the best architectural qualities of the traditional English country house, with 21st Century construction, to minimise operational energy requirements and ensure a timeless, long-lasting contribution to the built environment.
