Historic Town Buildings
Although we are often asked to design outstanding new properties, we also have extensive experience of restoring and extending historic town buildings. This has included, among others, the restoration and extension to a Grade II listed warehouse in Chiswick, London; a proposal to return Grade II* listed buildings close to the centre of Cirencester to private houses, from their previous use as offices; and the restoration of a fine Grade I listed house in Queen Anne’s Gate, near London’s St James’s Park.
The heritage reports produced by ADAM Architecture’s in-house team before undertaking such projects are often treasured by clients as they can uncover secrets about their properties and will always inform how we proceed with restoration work or extensions. Often, it is the smallest changes to historic buildings that can unlock their potential for modern living. As with all our projects, whether new or for historic buildings, our promotion of sustainable living is at the forefront of any proposal.
