Grade II Listed House Interior Alterations & Restoration
Hampshire

This substantial Grade II listed village house, dating back to the 17th century with significant 18th century modifications and extensions, suffered severe fire damage. The architectural challenge was to rescue an historic house, recapturing the important detail and character, without losing the essential patina that the owners so cherished. This also presented an opportunity to make modest adjustments to adapt the layout of the house to modern patterns of living. These included improvements to the layout of the family kitchen / breakfast room, which lies within the early twentieth-century addition, and a new kitchen added. The owner worked closely with the interior designer on the interior colours and fabrics, the result is an English classic of elegant and comfortable reserve.
