Cottage Refurbishment & Extension
Hampshire

A replacement extension to the Grade II listed cottage updates the limited accommodation and carefully refurbishes the remaining historic fabric. The new east wing is a sensitively designed addition with a new kitchen, utility/boot room and study. There are two additional bedrooms and a second bathroom on the first floor. The scale does not overwhelm the historic structure and the design reflects elements of the existing building, with painted brickwork, timber doors and windows, weather boarding and thatch. The historic brick fireplaces, bread oven, exposed chimneybreasts and braced and boarded doors have all been preserved and a new oak loggia recalls the original open fronted cart shed that once stood against the cottage.
