Major Remodelling of a Country House
A building located on a significant site adjacent to the local church. However, the original Georgian house burnt down in the early-twentieth century and was rebuilt in the 1960s in a modernist style that did not reflect the local vernacular. The design restores the status of the property within the village, refacing the structure in brick and stone to create a new, Greek Revival house. The off-centre entrance is emphasised with a tower, which houses a new, cantilevered stone staircase. The alterations also include internal remodeling of the principal rooms and the swimming pool.
