St John's Wood, London
A new single-family residence replacing a previous approval for the site. The main elevation features a Classical Doric portico with pediment, in keeping with the architecture of the local area, influenced by John Nash. The double-height portico provides a transition between the surrounding houses and taller blocks of flats in the immediate area. Internally, the house features a central, full-height stair hall, naturally lit by a lantern roof-light. The design includes a two-storey basement with underground swimming pool and car parking. The rear elevation has projecting bays and a single-storey garden room with a courtyard to the basement level below. The property is constructed from red clay bricks, laid in Flemish Bond using a traditional lime mortar.
