New Palladian Villa
Wiltshire

A new house in the spirit of Palladian farmhouse villas, enhancing the character of the surrounding historic hamlet. The entrance front is simple and understated in accordance with character of the village. The three central bays are recessed with arched openings to create an enclosed entrance portico or loggia. The garden front has a central portico in a Doric order, which closely follows that illustrated in Palladio’s treatise, I Quattro Libri dell’Architettura.
The main house is built in natural stone and lime render with a slate roof and an attached single-storey service wing in red brick and slate. The house demonstrates best practice in energy conservation, traditional building craftsmanship and the use of sustainable, locally sourced materials.
