The new stone country house on this beautiful rural site is a perfect rectangle, with a basement containing the necessary back of house support functions. This enables the ground floor to engage positively with the adjoining gardens on each façade. The Palladian plan, with geometric shape rooms and aligning doors, provides dramatic vistas through the building to the landscape and gardens beyond. A central hall and top-lit oak staircase creates a light core to the building, whilst enabling the surrounding rooms to enjoy excellent natural light and wonderful views out over the rural setting. This is a house designed to be lived in by a young family so the rooms are designed to function both for everyday life and for more formal occasions.
