New sustainable country house
Cheshire

Design for a new sustainable country house in Cheshire is distinctively Georgian in style with all the attendant symmetry, scale and volume.  The design responds to the client’s aspiration to build a great exemplar home in a modern classical manner, combining holistic sustainability considerations such as sourcing materials, fabric, energy production and use.  The existing tennis court and outbuildings will be replaced, and the existing primary entrance will be relocation to a location that will tie landscape and house together and give an arrival that a house of this nature deserves. The new house will be set in extensively landscaped gardens designed by Elizabeth Tyler Landscape Design, of a design, scale and quality that compliments and enhances the surrounding area, and will bring land and architecture seamlessly together. The house has been complimented at two different design review panels for demonstrating an ability to raise the standards of classical design more generally in the area. The RIBA backed Traditional Architecture Group (TAG) design review panel and the author of the Cheshire East Character Appraisal Assessor were involved as part of this process to ensure that the design is robustly reviewed by piers.
