The front door opens into a relatively narrow hall, with a cloakroom one side and a pantry on the other. The axis, which runs through the centre of the house through to the French window at the centre of the south elevation, cuts through the central oval staircase hall. The drawing room is given canted end by the double doors to the staircase hall. The oval staircase is top-lit with arched openings to the galleried landing. Two little monkeys in the balustrade of the main staircase were modelled by the sculptor, Simon Smith.
