Refurbishment, Alteration & Extension
Proposal for a major extension to the house and significant basement accommodation were granted in May 2012 by HM Planning Inspectorate. This followed a planning appeal against Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s (RBKC) refusal to grant permission. Since the appeal decision the house has been sold. The new owners benefit from the previous planning permission, but would prefer to implement proposals which are more modest and sympathetic to the original architecture of the house and Conservation Area. Working with the new owners, it was essential to use the same architectural language as the neighbouring buildings; namely a polite and fairly understated classicism. The design is the result of that process and pre-application discussions with RBKC.
