ADAM Architecture worked collaboratively with a world-renowned interior designer on the major refurbishment of this significant Grade I Listed property. The illustrious apartment sits within one of London’s most exclusive residential squares and required significant technical expertise to deliver the ambitious proposals within the context of a Grade I Listed heritage asset. The works comprised the removal of recent installations incongruous to the character and status of the property, whilst obtaining numerous incremental permissions from both Westminster and The Grosvenor Estate to redevelop the property. Our proposals centred around the enclosing of two storeys of a rear lightwell significantly increasing the high value floor area and providing a separate gym facility alongside a new formal breakfast room. The interior installations were designed in a completely traditional manner delivering the highest quality timber panelling and fibrous plaster ceilings along with spectacular finishes. The ceilings of the new breakfast room and formal dining room boast large octagonal roof lanterns allowing natural light to flood the interior space. New services and AV installations were fully co-ordinated within the smallest of spaces and completely concealed from view to maintain the appearance and atmosphere of the original 19th Century environment. Every last detail is considered to ensure our work remains timeless and provides a scholarly contribution to this exclusive address.
