On Friday and Saturday this week (3-4 February 2023) we will be at Olympia London for the Listed Property Show. With a wealth of expertise in historic buildings and traditional design, our work has won numerous awards from key heritage bodies and civic trusts. We’d be delighted to meet you to discuss any plans you might have for the renovation or extension of your listed property – however hypothetical. We see working with listed buildings not as a barrier to great design, but as a privilege and an exciting opportunity to keep historic buildings in active use. We’d love to hear about yours!
Who will you meet on Stand B5?
Directors Darren Price and Nigel Anderson will be at the show, as will Emily Horne - all architects specialising in historic buildings. They will be joined by Robin Stannard, an historic buildings surveyor with 40 years’ experience, as well as historical researcher Dr Helen Lawrence-Beaton, and Dr Martina Pacifici, an experienced building performance engineer who joined ADAM last year to head up our sustainability team. All are key members of our dedicated historic buildings team.
New to the show this year is the Energy Efficiency Feature – a timely opportunity to focus on the challenges thrown up by climate change and escalating energy costs. You can hear Martina present a talk on upgrading the energy efficiency of listed buildings at 10:30 on Friday morning in the Energy Efficiency theatre. She will be looking at both passive and active design solutions and describing how these interventions may both increase a property’s value and reduce running costs. Martina will also be on the Ask the Experts panel both mornings at 9:30.
Helen undertakes painstaking historic research into each property before any design process begins, providing invaluable evidence to uncover a building’s evolution. The process can be crucial in the planning process and in unlocking the potential of a site or building and enabling us to create informed, appropriate proposals to satisfy our clients, heritage bodies and conservation officers.
