We are so pleased to have received a commendation for our competition entry to reimaging a site in Sydney at 114 William Street in Woolloomooloo. The competition was launched by Street Level Australia, who campaign for better design and architecture in Australian cities.
The site is an empty piece of government owned land in the heart of the city. The proposal sought to demonstrate the potential of a response that promoted and enhanced walkable and connected streets, human scale traditional and vernacular inspired architecture, adapted to respond to the environmental challenges and an example of what can be done by more holistic urban and architectural thinking. Integrated and informing our proposal was the work of Place Logic and our urban analysis tools, including our Walkability and Neighbourhood Completeness tool to help inform the uses and urban network through the site.
Our entry was described by the jury as “a commendable attempt to promote walkability and street definition and an appealing picturesque quality to the whole.”
