The Ashfield Estate wanted to create a development in which it could take pride, without surrendering control to volume house builders, land dealers or planning consultants. The Estate took advice from engineers, ecologists, planners, architects, traffic consultants, landscape architects and also from the people who would build the place. The development includes 56 homes on a 2.4 hectare site, built by three local housebuilders who formed the Ashfield Partnership with the Ashfield Estate. It is hoped to be a testing ground to show how traditional building techniques can be successfully adapted in the future.
