Mayfields has created a template for greenfield development that offers far more than standard housing estates stuck on the edge of an existing town or village without contributing any new amenities.  ADAM Urbanism has been tasked with realising the vision for Mayfields, working with architects and urban planners Allies & Morrison, landscape architects Barton Wilmore, transport engineers Vectos, environmental consultants Create, plannig consultant Quod and other bought in as issues arose.  The new town will be shaped by the existing geography, a stream and river valleys run east to west and the centre sits alongside a large park, in the manner of a traditional spa town. It is designed initially for 7,000 with a possible expansion to 10,000 on a 339 hectare site and will provide many more benefits than a typical housing estate such as interconnected routes for journeys by foot, bike, car, bus; a masterplan that include a full range of house types for all ages and budgets; village centres linked to each other and to a traditional market-town centre; and a range of architecture and design with fine detailing and proportions.
