The new Nadler Hotel in London’s Soho acts as a focus for an important view west from Soho Square and replaces an undistinguished 1960s building. The five-storey stone entrance front is designed as a bold statement with refined classical detailing and is flanked by simple brick facades. Over the main entrance sits a large sculpture by the award-winning modern sculptor, Hew Locke. The larger-than-life-size bronze figure of Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon and magic, is his first permanent work in London. It is flanked by columns representing the torches of dawn, and capitals with a passion flower, representing sleep.
