Poundbury wins Georgian Group Award

We are delighted to announce that Poundbury (Phase III) has won the Diaphoros Prize at the Georgian Group Awards 2025.

For 21 years, the Georgian Group Architectural Awards have celebrated those who have demonstrated the vision and commitment to faithfully restore Georgian buildings and landscapes, as well as celebrating those who have created new work in the spirit of the Georgian era.

It is in the latter category that Poundbury has been recognised. The creation of an entire town grounded in classical design principles represents one of the greatest challenges for traditional architects. The North-East and Northern Quadrants, commissioned by the Duchy of Cornwall, marks the third major phase of development.

This phase has been a close collaboration between ADAM partner George Saumarez Smith and Ben Pentreath of Ben Pentreath Studios, working with CG Fry, Morrish Homes and Places for People.

This award celebrates a shared vision of placemaking and the creation of a lively and enduring community. The award is also in special recognition of Leon Krier, masterplanner of Poundbury, who died in June 2025.
