Georgian House, Hampshire

This project involved the restoration and enlargement of a Grade II-listed Georgian house with medieval origins, refurbishing the historic core of the house and reversing modern alterations that had affected the architectural value of the site.

A new cross wing replaces a 1930s extension which stood at odds with the house’s 18th century roots. The addition stands proud of the principal elevations to emphasise its aesthetic independence from the historic core. At the opposite end of the house, a flat-roofed kitchen has been replaced by a new, single-storey pitched-roofed structure constructed in handmade brick to match the new wing, with an open oak-framed roof.
