Grade I House, Winchester
Early 18th century house overlooking the medieval cathedral in Winchester
Dating from the early 18th century, this Grade I-listed house overlooks the medieval cathedral in Winchester. The building required both modernisation and careful restoration of the historic fabric to reinstate it as a single property. A programme of sensitive work on the main house, stables, garages and courtyard was underpinned by detailed historical research.
The original plan was restored through the removal of modern partitions and the adjustment of floor levels. The addition of modern facilities within the historic fabric was achieved while retaining its original character and reintroducing craftsmanship to the interior.
