New Bond Street Gallery, London

A gallery designed in the classical tradition to house and display Richard Green Galleries’ collection of modern British and European paintings and sculpture.

33 New Bond Street was the first purpose-built, architect-designed gallery on New Bond Street in a century, housing three floors of space for galleries, research and ancillary facilities.

Designed in a restrained Greek revival style, the building makes a bold architectural statement while respecting the character of the existing streetscape and the greater Mayfair Conservation Area.

The new façade is faced in load-bearing Portland stone decorated with a narrative frieze by Scottish sculptor Alexander Stoddart, depicting an allegory for the development of modern art from 1900 to the present day.

The new building was winner of the Georgian Group Award for A New Building in the Classical Tradition in 2011. After more than a decade as a gallery, the space is now home to the major French fashion brand, Jacquemus.
