New English Palladian Villa, Hampshire
A new country house at the heart of an agricultural estate
The architectural language of this new country house at the heart of an agricultural estate explores the heritage of Palladianism. While the plan is closely based on an unbuilt design for the Villa Ragona at Le Ghizzole by Andrea Palladio, the exterior of the new house has a more English character. The materials used are a local red brick with Portland stone dressings and a Welsh slate roof. The interior of the house is planned around a central top-lit staircase, around which are rooms for entertaining and for family living.
