Restoration of a Grade II* Listed Manor House
Gloucestershire

ADAM Architecture were commissioned to lead a major refurbishment of a Gloucestershire manor house for a client wishing to use the Grade II* Listed property as a private house and also as a retreat for academics and guests. The change of use necessitated new services installations and the requirement of a significant fire strategy and associated installations. Working closely with conservation officers and Historic England, a sensitive approach was adopted to repair previous building interventions which were incongruous to the historic fabric. The building was returned to a breathable structure incorporating increased levels of thermal insulation and dramatically reducing heat loss. Leading a comprehensive team of consultants and specialists, ADAM Architecture undertook a full re-servicing of a number of buildings upon the estate, with new services fully concealed and carefully integrated within the historic building fabric, some elements dating back to the 15th Century.
